Have you had that feeling that you’re connected to a work of art? When I saw Sofia Moreno-Marcos designs: free-spirited, colourful and vibrant – I knew that we speak the same language — passion for fashion.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sofia in 2015 at the Undress Runway Show. Her collection was my personal favourite and the crowd’s, as well (see my blog here). Her unique designs, featured at Alpha Fashion Magazine, have captured many hearts. I know that this Peruvian Australia-based designer will make it big someday. I’m just glad that I’ve known her at this early stage and had the privilege of wearing one of her designs from her AW16 collection. This Black-and-White dress is girly, fun and authentic which also reflects my personality :p.

I was invited at QUT Fashion Graduate Show where Sofia’s designs were showcased. Her latest Graduate Collection
A C L L H U A S I —inspired by her South American Heritage will bring you to her colourful world.

A C L L H U A S I (ahk-lyah-WAH-see)

This collection has a lot of sentimental value for me, since my main inspiration was the Inca culture, with some oriental influence, in the construction of some designs. Each look was designed and built with a particular muse in mind and zampoñas and dancers rumbling in my ears. The lively colors and the mixture of silk and cotton fabrics, added with the incredible work of embroidery by hand made by artisans of Cuzco, make this collection more than an ode, an eternal party, a nostalgic celebration of the place where I always long to return. – Sofia Moreno-Marcos

I’ve chatted with Sofia to know more of her fashion world and maybe get some of her creative juices. Haha! Read my full editorial blog for Fashion Hub Qld here.
